Helo, I'm curious what the general majority of costa ricans' opinions are on americians who visit? I know certain countries can be kind of anti-americians. How is the view on America over in Costa Rica?

There is no anti-american sentiment. There are those who want to take advantage of those with money. Even officially, there are 2 prices for national parks. Locals and tourists.

For a vacation don't worry about the little scams... taxi's charging too much, etc.. as long as the prices are within reason (in your mind).

If you plan to live there you really need to watch your back (wallet).

You will find as an American it is an excellent place to vacation and cheap.

I have been to Costa Rica twice now and it was two of the best experiences I have ever had outside of the United States. I have been to France and it is so expensive that the money issue was always on our minds. In Costa Rica everything is reasonably priced. Everyone there was very friendly as well.

Okay, that's cool. I can live with the little scams. I just would not want to feel as if everybody hated me and wish I was not there! I have felt like that before in certain other countries so i thought i'd check this out before heading to Costa Rica.

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose).
