I was also wondering the same thing, can any Ticos out there help us by providing what is the whether like in Costa Rica during certain seasons? It would really help us travelers gain an upper hand about the great retirement paradise Costa Rica. Thanks for anyone who'll respond to this.

I am curious how you can call it is "great retirement paradise" when you don't even know the weather! The weather alone, could be a significant factor on whether a particular location is a "great retirement paradise" or a terrible place to live!
Now, in Costa Rica the weather can vary considerably depending on where within Costa Rica you are. In them mountains it can be cold at night and in some places quite cool during the day too. When someone tells you to bring a coat to Costa Rica they are not kidding.
The temperatures are quite even throughout the year and vary by geography more than season. The change in seasons bring a change in rain.
Dry or wet. No rain or daily rain. The daily ran isn't as bad as it sounds. It depends on area again, but is often an very hard afternoon rain with clear evenings and sunny mornings.

Well, to answer you Bill of Alajuela, Costa Rica is so aggressively marketed as one of the many popular "retirement paradise" that is why we are able to refer to it as so even without knowing about it. But thank you anyways for speaking your heart and mind out.

I lived in Costa Rica for eight years. May is a "transition month" It is beginning of rainy season. You get sunny mornings and occasional rain in afternoons, starting around 1:30 p.m. and may rains for 2-3 hours or less. Some days may not rain at all.
May is not a heavy tourist month so things are less crowded and a little less expensive.
You will enjoy your stay. Please read my blog post which is all about travel to Costa Rica. www.costaricalearn.com

"1) does it rain everyday during the rainy season???"Generally no, but depends on where you are staying at. It can rain daily in the mountains (you know, "rainforest" is a descriptive word), but it's not nearly as bad along the west coast. Try for example the Nicoya peninsula on the Pacific coast. Read more about the region here: www.happytellus.com /costa-rica, then click "Guanacaste"
"2) I have got an explanation regarding the 'central valley' which region does this usually make up?"
It's an inland area in the surroundings of San José, where most locals live. Not a hugely interesting place for visitors, though.
