I read the best things about Tamarindo

Thank author of this post/commentI didn't know much about Tamarindo and I was planning on visiting Jaco Beach in the new year. But, after reading up on Tamarindo, I think that will be one of my first stops. It sounds wonderful. Gorgeous beaches and lots of activities such as golf, horseback riding, canopy tours, diving, and turtle watching.

Under the Sea
Thank author of this post/commentTamarindo is nice. Not much there, but there is one luxury hotel and one restaurant. If you want to go somewhere quiet without the loud nightlife, that is the choice of many. Not too many locals either so crime should be fairly non existent.

It does not appear that 'Patrick from under the sea' has been to Tamarindo recently.....I have a condo there and am down there once a month on business. In fact, there are over 100 hotels, motels, B&Bs and cabinas in Tamarindo. Probably 10 of those properties are high end and quite luxurious....$200-$400 per night. That doesn't even include the scores of individual condos and homes that are for rent. The high end condos cost anywhere from $550, 000 to $1, 200, 000. The high end beach front homes in the Langosta area of Tamarindo cost between $3, 500, 000-$7, 000, 000 and rival anything highend luxury has to offer in the U.S. As far as the dining goes, I'd estimate there are easily over 200 restaurants (including what the locals call 'sodas') in the Tamarindo area. Personally, I'd classify at least 15 of these restaurants as high end, with top notch food, atmosphere, service and unfortunately, high prices. The population varies between 4, 000-7, 000, depending on the time of year. Extensive night life there, too. Hope this is helpful.

Mr. G.

Cause he is sick and tried of the people and sight around Miami? Your too grumpy gramps. Isn't turtle watching kinda boring? Maybe Patrick from under sea needs to read this link so he will have an idea about Tamarindo.

I got a question for you Terry. I know that Tamarind is a tree, is there a connection about this tree and the name of the beach?

Thank author of this post/comment"Hey there, Tamarindo is great:)"

hey there, I know the original post is somewhat dated. however, i wanted to tell you guys that Tamarindo is really great! There is a lot of activities to do. It still has the surf town feel without the bad service and slowness you run into everywhere else. I love it here. There is locals but there is also a lot of tourist too. Which actually makes it more safe I think bec you don't stick out as a target.

You can come and stay on any budget you want which is nice. If you need any advice or help with planning or organizing I'd recommend the ppl below.

Good luck & surf til you die!

I'm considering going here for the winter, however, given the dates of these comments, rent doesn't sound affordable for a retiree.????

Poor man's paradise

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose). Have you added a link to us from your website? (4082864159):
