I would like a breast augmentation as well. Does anyone know what a reasonable rate would be. I am also looking for the best doctors there. Any information would be great.

Personally I would stick with getting surgery in my homeland, because what if there's a problem. What if there's communicaton barrier which would make it difficult to understand what the problem is. Is there a good hospital in Costa Rica? Best to think of all the mistakes that could happen and if being in Costa Rica would make them worse or not. I personally would feel more safe doing it in my homeland, through friends who already had experiences with said doctor. It might be more money but.. better safe than sorry!

Matt has a great point. You don't want to go to Costa Rica and have something go wrong and not be in your own country. Plus you can't depend on the service being clean and good. Really the price is much less, but is the service too.

I had some liquid removed from my neck in rural Colombia. The doctor made an appt with the ultrasound place and told my wife to get something from the pharmacy (which happened to be shringes). they stuck me on the table and used the ultra sound to locate the liquid and shringes to suck it out. The shringes when right into the trash. It didn't hurt much and there was no painkillers. Although their facilties were limited, the people involved were very concerned about doing a good job.Another time I had voluntary surgery at a South American Military Hospital. As a paying customer I was treated like a king. I would be scared sh_tless to have any medical work done in Costa Rica. I would be concerned about the standards and whether everyone involved was also concerned about the standards.

Glen, that's great you had good luck with your surgeries! I would be too nervous to have a surgery anywhere that i wasn't familiar enough with. But i suppose when it comes down to it, sometimes you can't be picky. But if you can, you should be! It is your body afterall.

I had plastic surgery done aprox. 7 yrs ago in San Jose'I was only going to get face lift but when I got there I find out that additional surgeries are discounted heavily and wound up with a little lipo and fat transfers as well. The trip total was $8, 000. This is what I received: full face lift, liposuction in stomach, fat transfers in lips and buttocks, the air flight ($450) AND the hotel which had the doctor and nurses visiting every day for 4 days after surgery. I am happy with results and am going back this year

I'm coming to Costa Rica in April for cosmetic surgery. Still haven't seen any doctor recommendations from ex pats.I've done quite a bit of research and have decided to come (I know about the risks, etc.) Anyway, please let me know if you know first hand or have heard of someone good. Thanks

Go to Brazil or someplace civilized for the plastic surgery.

i, m pretty well decided on Dr Chacon in San Jose, i just hope i have chosen the right one for facial surgery.i, ve looked at so many surgeons, of course, all promise the earth, and then it was either Chacon or Pastor??? i went off Pastor because i did, nt like the attitude of his PA.(pushy cow.!) i still have no idea which recovery home to choose, again i, ve heard that some places are quite dirty. help me out anyone, regarding facial surgeons and recovery retreats. thankyou.
