dentist

Hi. I am looking for dentist referrals in the San Jose area. I live in US and need dental work done and have just recently heard about the "medical tourism" option. Also, i live in Tampa, Florida and would like to know any tricks to finding inexpensive airfare to San Jose as well as affordable, comfortable lodging. I plan on coming towards the end of May 06.

I guess your dental tourism trip is complete... did you find a good dentist? How much money did you save?

I received surgery from Dr. Muņoz-Cavallini. I chose him because he put

implants on my friend, and because his prices were better.

He was charming at the beginning. After that, when the problems started, he

never solved my problems...and charged me more money.

I had to find another dentist to fix all the problems caused by him.

Then I found out at the Colegio de Dentistas (the board that rules the

dentists in Costa Rica) that he is not an Specialist in Implants.

He uses One-Hour implants (mini-implants), that worked OK for some months,

but then they started to fail.

Later I found out that One-Hour implants are a cheap solution, and that they

were designed just as a temporary solution. They were offered to me as a

final solution! I could not believe it.

Now my friend (the one who recommended Dr. Muņoz-Cavallini) is having

problems with her implants (that ended up being mini-implants), and her

local dentists told her that they have to be eliminated are replaced by real

implants.

I have to say I do not recommend Dr. Muņoz -Cavallini. I wish I had known

better.

I'm going to San Jose 11/08. If someone who lives there know by 1st hand experience, a very good Dentist I'd like to know how to contact the office. I may even need an orthodontist for a root cand a cap. But I mainly have old metal fillings I'd like removed and replaced with porcelain. If I'm going to trust some one they must be reputable. Thank you for the information.

marin millen- All I can say is if you live in the U.S. why would you go to ANOTHER country to get denatal work done? Have you EVER heard of the horror stories from people who went to different countries to have medical work done and then ended up COMPLETLY messed up? WHY IN HELL would you go out of the country for dental work? I am dying to know...

The price! Maybe the quality of work. Maybe to avoid the obsession the USA dentists have with stuffing your mouth full of poison (ie: mercury).

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica.
