Recipes and Food, Costa Rica

Are there cookbooks available for local recipes from Costa Rica? What are the local favorites? You have chili in Texas, baked beans in Boston, oysters in Louisiana, gumbo in Mississippi, philly cheese steak in (guess where).

How about Costa Rica?

Rice and beans! Dry and disgusting except for breakfast when it's called Gallo Pinto and the rice and beans is cooked in a dash of oil, salt and culantro. I was almost killed once when I asked if it would be eaten for lunch!

Gallo Pinto is just for breakfast. Other meals must have simply rice and beans without flavor.

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose).
