Rio Claro~I was there in July 2005. (this year) There is one"cabina" (or hotel) that rents rooms with NO A/C (yet they have HBO and MAX, go figure) for very nominal rates. There is absolutely nothing to do in Rio Claro except walk the "town square" and eat at the bakery. (I was there for a Methodist Mission Trip and worked on the Methodist Church) The people are WONDERFUL, kind, polite and glas to have you in there town. Have Fun

I have a house in Rio Claro. Rio Claro is set close to many locations in the south part of the country. For instance, 23km to Golfito, Canoas (Panama border) is 30km, Neily 17km and if you travel up the country, it is 1 1/2 hr to Dominical with tons of beaches between. There is a new marina going in at Golfito. This should add to a brighter economic outlook for the whole area. Property is inexpensive at present. If you have wheels you can do many day trips very easily. If you don't, do not fret because, as in all of Costa Rica, bus service is good and reliable. A small town environment where there is no shortage of birds to wake you in the morning. Sorry, no Disco! Hope this assists you.
