Really they are known for their good food and of course the coffee. I have heard that they have better coffee than you can get almost anywhere across the globe.

Comment #4 Old Grump from San Jose -

Coffee: yes.

Food: who keeps saying this. The food is cheap and bland.

Costa Rica is also known for their tourism. I have heard great things about their art and jewelry. They have great views and wonderful beaches. Plus I think the people living there makes it wonderful.

Comment #7 Roxy from Heaven -

They are known for their volcanoes. The volcanoes divide the country down the center. They also have many exotic animals. 25% of the land there is National Parks and Reserves so it is absolutely gorgeous in most areas. They have a winterless climate. They have two seasons: wet and dry.

I've known Costa Rica according to the references i read that they have a rich culture and great sceneries. I also read that they do not have mobilized armies, although they still manage their country to be safe and secure.

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose).
