'Wealthy area' Escazu  

Wealthy area

Is Escazu where many of the more wealthy families live in Costa Rica? What is the crime rate like in this area? I have a buddy from work that was talking about Escazu because he has some family from there.

A while back security was a big problem in Escazu. The criminals would ram thought the gates of a house with the truck and then hold everyone in the house at gunpoint as they robbed them.

I haven't heard too much of that recently.

You'll find throughout Costa Rica all the houses have bars over all the windows. Some Americans talk about "petty crime" as if it is a major problem for them.

I read some where that this is one of the more wealthy areas. Maybe that is why the crime is up, I suppose. Where do people retire most in Costa Rica?
