It is legal to give your own children Christian based homeschooling in Costa Rica? or are your kids required to go to a public or government authorized private school? Are there any bilingual Christian based schools in Costa Rica suitable for expat kids?

Hi!

Homeschooling is definitely accepted in C.R. There are a couple of Waldorf groups in the country, another in Uvita in Central Pacific.

Good luck,

Manuel

I would be taken aback to hear that in certain countries, it is illegal to do tour own home schooling. Isn't it the parent's responsibilty to do what he or she deems useful to the kids?

Chile does not have a specific home education law. Nonetheless, the constitution provides some education freedom so parents are allowed to homeschool their children.

In essence, parents have the right to educate their children while it is the government's responsibility to provide special protection for the protection of that right.

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose).
