Teaching English in Costa Rica?

Is it possible for Americans to go to Costa Rica for a year and teach English at a University or college? My friend is currently teaching English over in Japan! It seems like such an amazing experience and a good way to interact with other people who want to learn your language.

Oh yeah, I am sure there are English teachers there. I am almost certified as an ESL teacher in the United States and I have learned that all countries need these types of teachers. I don't know what the pay would be like though.

Right, i would imagine the pay would not be as great as it could be in other countries but the experience should be a good trade off too. I also believe they usually get to live in the dorms and such, which saves money. I know my friend in Japan lives in the dorm.

That sounds very reasonable if you have expenses paid, like a dorm room. Or an apartment off campus perhaps. I think it would not be just the money, but the experience you are going for.

Indeed, it'd be the experience firstmost if i ever decided to do that. I would imagine one would learn SO much through doing jobs like that in various countries. I think that would be a really awesome job to do before we all settle down for good.
