Homeschooling in Guanacaste, Costa Rica

I recently moved to Guanacaste, Costa Rica and was wondering about homeschooling and/or online schools for my children. Is there any group or parents that are homeschooling there children in this area that can point me in the right direction? Thank you! Sylvia

Thank author of this post/comment"Public Education"

I realize many people think public education in the USA sucks or have various religious objections to it. Without disagreeing on those points, the home schoolers often fail to understand the importance of schooling for social integration.

Now in a foreign country that issue of social interaction becomes even more important. As well as language development.

Whatever or where ever your kids go as adults in life they will have to interact with a wide variety of humans. Give them the change to learn and be comfortable with that! Don't release them into the world as social midgets!

Also be good parents and spend lots of time with them at home instilling them with good values and morals. Help them understand the negative aspects of their schooling.

Don't isolate them!

I love Costa Rica. I have been there once and I was really amazed of how I was warmly welcomed by Costa Ricans. You can really see how well educated the people were. This encouraged me to find out more about Costa Rica's education. I also have heard about the homeschooling in Guanacaste. I have known a lot of intelligent people that is homeschooled. The only disadvantage of learning at home is the exposure that you can get from the co-curricular activities from the school.

Thank author of this post/comment"Freedom of Choice vs Parents Will"

It also alters the balance of power between the childs free will (granted by God) and the parents desires for absolute control. You'll find so many homeschooling parents are religious zealots seeking the same narrow attitudes for their children.

Let your children be free to make mistakes and find their own path in life.

Poor man's paradise

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose). Have you added a link to us from your website? (2651016582):
