This makes me wonder. Is the business of being a translator popular in Costa Rica? I would think it could be useful for all the tourists who come and don't understand Spanish?

I think you have to be clear about whether you are talking about public or certified translators for documents you need for official purposes... or a translator for helping you get around Costa Rica.

For the later, a dictionary and common sense is your best bet.

What are some website to help you translate language?

Fred this link is a free translation site. You can also get a quote on how much a professional translator would cost.

Keep this min mind... . Some people like to call Costa Rica various things like Puerto Rico or Costa Rico. Costa Rica translates to "Rich Coast"... check out Costa Rica. Costa Rica is also two words, not one, ie: Costarica or CostaRico. San Jose is the capitol city of Costa Rica. The San Jose International Aiport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela, Costa Rica (about 15 km from the Capital San Jose).
